The New Spider-Man

Some bittersweet news here. Tom Holland (from such movies as In the Heart of the Sea) has been selected to be the kid behind the new on-screen portrayal of Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man. In addition to finally appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with such movies as Captain America: Civil War, a new stand-alone Spider-Man movie co-produced by Marvel and Sony, and Avengers: Infinity War, he will also be joined by writers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Sam on Freaks and Geeks) and director Jon Watts (Cop Car) for the rebooted Spider-Man trilogy. The bitter part of this news is that it is now official (though it was always far-fetched) that Tobey Maguire will not be Peter Parker. He will not be returning. But don't worry. He will always be Spider-Man. Now, it's time to see what Holland can do.

After hearing Jimmy Fallon, as Neil Young, sing Old Man with Neil Young, himself (and how haunting it was!) I decided to pursue the song and, subsequently, the rest of the album. What I found was an amazing arrangement that you would think would be somewhat abbreviated initially, but it just flows too nicely. Besides Old Man, Harvest also boasts Heart of Gold and a live recording of The Needle and the Damage Done. The collaborations are what elevates this album to the top fifty. Not only are there elements of Crosby, Stills, and Nash, but there is also the London Symphony Orchestra and James Taylor. Plus, it was the best-selling album of 1972!

Exclusive Ant-Man Clip

In the past, when Paul Rudd has visited Conan, he has always pulled an old bait and switch by pretending like a clip from his new movie is going to be shown, but instead it is a hilariously lousy clip from an old movie called Mac & Me. Well, since he's working for Marvel now as Scott Lang, this doesn't fly with the company. Instead, we were treated to something pretty awesome. A clip from Ant-Man not seen in the movie. Pretty great!

Marriage Equality

On June 27, a landmark Supreme Court decision was made to allow for complete marriage equality nationwide. I know you've probably heard everything there is to hear about this topic, but I just thought it was a great day in American history, worthy of commemoration! Good on the U.S.!

50 Favorite Albums: 50

Most of my love for Frank Sinatra comes from his dabbling in the swing genre, to use a completely inproportionate verb. But Nice 'n' Easy, an album named after the title of the first track, vaults Sinatra into more of the musical world of ballads. Despite, of course, the title track, Nice 'n' Easy, which drew me to the album in the first place and exposed me to the wealth of songs provided, as well. Nice 'n' Easy, the song, has one of my all-time favorite song lyrics, "We're on the road to romance." Very good collection of songs that earned a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.

Tracy Morgan's Interview

Nearly one year since the fatal accident Tracy Morgan was involved in after a nighttime comedy show, he spoke out on The Today Show for his first interview. He clearly still has a little way to go, but it's very nice to see that he is well. Good to hear his voice again.
