Day 30: Favorite Disney Parks Thing Past, Present of Future

This is a very general topic. I don't even know. I guess this could suit it:

That was a fun challenge. I love the parks!

Florida Recap: 4/16

I woke up, and had some leftover lemon meringue pie from Perkins for breakfast. We didn't really plan breakfast well. I showered and got ready for the day. That was the day we were to visit Disney Quest. A place I'd never been to before. Yet it was still awesome! You could create your own roller coaster and song. My mom and dad took an animation class. There was life size pinball and some four player racing games. My sister and I went on a shooting Buzz Lightyear hoverround type ride which was fun. There were some classic games like Pac-Man too. We ate at a cafe where we sad a weird thing everytime someone walked by. There were some cool virtual reality games where a guy criticized my Tebow jersey. To top it off there was a virtual Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Aladdin rides. I set a high score on an arcade basketball game, which was a unique experience. There was also a frozen lemonade that was flat out delicious. It was a good day and in the night we had McDonald's and watched a humorous episode of Two and a Half Men. Fun day!

This Week's Sports by David

Not In The Playoffs

Rajon Rondo has been suspended for one game after challenging the ref's call of foul rather than jump ball and then bumping the ref. Yes, Marc Davis did make the wrong call, but in the heat of the moment, Rondo lost his cool and now the Celtics are staring at a likely 2-0 hole. Don't worry. Rondo will be back in Game 3. With a triple double. You heard it here first.

Batman For A Day

This is awesome. I don't have words so just watch it:

Fenway Centennial Celebration Review

The Yankees defeating them was definitely a damper, but Sox fans still had the pregame to relish in Fenway love. Here's the Kevin Millar and Pedro Martinez record-breaking toast:

http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2012/04/20/video-kevin-millar-and-pedro-martinez-gave-hilariously-bad-fenway-toast/

Sorry, video was hard to find.

They may have been a little drunk.

Tebow Mania. To New Heights

If you're on the list of Time's 100 Most Influential People, you know that your legacy has been cemented. And that's just what has happened for Tim Tebow. There are more than seven billion people on Earth and Tebow's one of the 100 most influential. That's one for every 70 million people. Tebow Mania is crazy! And I love it. Oh yeah, one more thing. Matt Lauer, the very awesome co-host of Today on NBC, is also one of the 100 most influential. You know how they be.

Note: Jeremy Lin wrote the piece on Tebow. Howard Stern wrote Lauer's.

Art of the Underground Hotel

Intercontinental Shimao Shanghai Wonderland will be a 19-floor hotel in Shanghai in China. Almost all floors will be below ground level. There will even be an underwater restaurant! Oh my. Shanghai always has unique ideas.

Think Like A Man Review

On Saturday, I saw the movie 'Think Like A Man' with my friends Ryan and Alex. It was pretty awesome. People are calling it a romantic comedy, but it wasn't really romantic at all until the end, so that was alright. Kevin Hart was great, as usual and the supporting cast, lots of unknowns, worked well. It was a good concept and I'd reccomend it. Definitely made me laugh. A lot. I'll give it a B+ A-.

Patriots Draft Recap

Here is the Patriots draft list (the picks are numbered ordered according to Patriot picks, not the rest of the league):

  1. Chandler Jones, DE
  2. Dont'a Hightower, LB
  3. Tavon Wilson, S
  4. Jake Bequette, DE
  5. Nate Ebner, DB
  6. Jeremy Ebert, WR
  7. Alfonzo Dennard, CB
Yup, that's right six defensive players were drafted. Personally, I love it. Chandler and Dont'a will definitely fit in quite nicely with the defense and the other players will make great up and coming role players. However, I don't think that they should have drafted Bequette and Ebert. With their fourth pick, they should have chosen a running back and with the sixth, maybe an offensive lineman? I'm happy though. They came out a winner in this draft.

On a Gator note: Two players were drafted. One of them: Chris Rainey by the Pittsburgh Steelers. John Brantley went to Baltimore, but was undrafted. I certainly wish them the best.

Yup. That's Not Photoshop. And I Love It.

That's an official teaser banner for a very Muppety sequel! The Muppets 2, which it seems to be called so far, will undoubtedly be awesome, hopefully with even more cameos. I hope they don't falter without Jason Segel and the soundtrack is still good. I have no worries. Another movie slated for 2013. Yes yes yes! Awesomeness.

NBC 4/26 Recap

SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOILER!
NBC began an epic night of comedies with Community. It was a very awesome episode, one of Community's best. It parodied Law and Order, but it ended with a twist. We were all teased about a death from Dan Harmon. I predicted Leonard or Annie's Boobs (the monkey.) Surprisingly, Starburns was killed off when his car was rear-ended causing the meth lab in the back of his car to explode. Apparently, his death will affect the rest of the season. Also, the actor who played Starburns, is also a writer for Community and he requested a death so he could focus on the writing. I'm curious about the funeral. R.I.P Starburns. You've been there since the beginning.

30 Rock aired soon after with their second live show. It was awesome and hilarious with guest star appearances featuring Amy Poehler, Donald Glover, Paul McCartney, and many others. There were also flashbacks and cutaways and of course, mishaps. It was awesome. There should be more live shows!

The Office carried on in the wake of Andy's firing. Honestly, I think he'll be back one way or another and Catherine Tate will be long gone. Hopefully, in a fiery death where ravenous monsters rip her to shreds and then put her remains in a blender and a man drinks it, but has a bad reaction to it and a house collapses over it and during the cremation of whatever remains are left it explodes and it is used to churn milk, but it goes bad and is thrown away and the garbage truck crushes it and when it is disposed of worms eat it and use it for soil, but then to build a jail, the soil is dug up by convicts and a criminal uses it to kill somebody so they put it in an evidence room where it is used in court, but it is stolen and it is lost in the ocean, but a shark finds it and it gets stuck in his eyes and he can't see where he's going so he swims into a boat and the the boat sinks and Catherine Tate's character Nellie Bertram's final resting place will be under a boat at the bottom of the sea.

And on Parks and Recreation, Paul Rudd performed perfectly.

Day 29: Favorite Statue, Fountain, Or Anything Else That Grabs Your Eye

It's gotta be the Walt and Mickey statue. So awesome. So flawless.

Walt Disney World: Plans For The Future

The movies will come later in the week, but for now, it's the park we all know and love! (Nothing has been released about Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland.) Here's what's up:

Fantasyland Expansion

  • The second half of the new Dumbo rides and Casey Jr. Splash 'n' Soak Station will open in Storybook Circus in July 2012.
  • Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, Enchanted Tales With Belle, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Gaston's Tavern, and Ariel's Grotto will open this fall in time for the holidays.
  • The Seven Dwarf's Mine Train will open last in 2014.
Test Track Redesign
  • You can design your own custom concept vehicle and then put it through paces on hills and switchbacks.
  • In the post-show, you'll be able to make a television commercial with your customized car in it.
  • You will be able to race your car on a virtual track and get your picture taken with it.
  • Test Track will reopen in late fall.
Other Updates
  • A new summertime version of 'The Magic, The Memories, and You" will premiere.
  • Disney's Art of Animation Resort will open on May 31st, with other resort sections opening later.
  • New game-plays will debut at the park including, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and Phineas and Ferb: Agent P's World Showcase Adventure.
  • Star Wars weekends will return May 18th to June 10th.
Could be coolish.

Florida Recap: 4/15

I woke up in Florida! It was an awesome thing to wake up to. Just boom Florida. We went to iHop and I had pancakes (obviously.) Then, got dressed for the day. We drove to Orlando and looked around Downtown Disney to pass some time. After that, we visited my grandmother and great-grandmother. Yes my great-grandmother did dance to a sock monkey singing Taio Cruz's Dynamite. It was awesome. By that time, we could check into our hotel, which we did. My room had double doors! We showered and then visited Titanic the Experience on the 100th anniversary of its sinking. They recreated some rooms. The guy that I portrayed died. Shucky darns. We ate at Perkins to top off the day. I ate some southern style chicken type thing. I watched ESPN News to fall asleep. I would do that every night that week.

Day 28: Favorite Firework Show

Wishes is awesome! Very cool, along with Tinker Bell going down the zip-line. Nice, but probably nerve wracking.

Note: In the Favorite Parade category on Day 24, I believe, I also enjoy the Christmas Parade. Just throwin' that out there.

That's A Nice Touch

We all remember the brave squirrel that darted across home plate during a Cardinals game in their magical World Series winning 2011 run, right? It became known as 'The Rally Squirrel' and Cardinals fans worship it. Well now it's been immortalized in 14 karat gold. I like it. It's clever. Look right above home plate. Really cool.
The very awesome candy, Mike and Ike, has split. Not the candy, but Mike and Ike. It's kinda sad. Not much is going to change except for the new boxes which will have either Mike or Ike crossed out and on the back there will be Ike's reason, or on the other style, Mike's reason. Still awesome candy though.

Could It BE Any More Awesome?

Granted it looks frightening, but it would still be awesome to have. Hate to see it give out. Also, elevator shaft.

McDonald's Fries Secret Revealed

While they're not too healthy for you, the process is very lengthy and it seems like they know what they're doing. Which is a plus. Here it is in quotes because I didn't say it.

"[David Myers] says the key to making a perfect, consistent, McDonald's-style fry is in the advance preparation. The cut potatoes need to be soaked for at least two hours before cooking which pulls out excess starch and ensures the crispiest product. Also, Myers recommends that, "you have plenty of paper towels, a lined sheet pan, and have your oil ready to go."

Monster University Teaser Poster

Before there was Boo and the Laugh Floor. Well, even before Mike and Sulley were friends, there was a Monster University that monsters attended. It is slated to be the prequel of Monsters, Inc. Cool poster! Looking forward to it! 2013's gonna be a big big year for movies. Especially Disney movies.

Florida Trip: Saturday the 14th

I woke up and finished the DFTBA Tournament before doing anything else. Friends won. Always cool. I came back in showered, finished packing, and my Dad returned from picking my brother and sister-in-law from the airport after they had their trip. They chatted and I finished loading up the car and before we knew it we were on the road. We drove until we hit New Jersey where we stopped at a Burger King rest stop, ate, and kept on traveling. We drove and stopped for some gas along the way and eventually we got to Virginia. We stopped at a Cracker Barrel, ate there which is always good. The peg games are awesome. So is the French toast. Anywho, I sat up in the front seat and listened to Phil Collins on a very long stretch of road at night until I fell asleep. When I woke up, I maneuvered to the back seat and slept until Sunday. All the while, the @TitanicRealTime Twitter kept us updated on what was happening exactly 100 years ago. It was cool.

Florida Vacation Recap

I told you I'd tell you Friday. From Saturday the 27th to Sunday the 6th, I will be documenting our vacation as it actually happened that day! Kinda like a journal from the future. Look for it!

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride Movie

This should be interesting! The ride that remains at Disneyland, but no longer at the Magic Kingdom is getting its own movie. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride will hit the big screen again! I'm intrigued and I've always wanted to ride it, but never have. Also, Mr. Toad appeared on a Disney souvenir we brought back from Florida. And a statue of him popped up in the Haunted Mansion. They didn't say anything, but I can only think that as a part of the Fantasyland expansion. He might be back?

Haunted Mansion Teaser Trailer

I'm a little late on this too, but hey, better that than never, right? This looks awesome and I hope Eddie Murphy has no part. Should be good!

I Laughed FOREVER

Seriously I did! Wouldn't this be a strange, awesome thing to see in a park? The kid is like BAAHHH! Allegedly, the kid kicked Pluto in his Hidden Mickeys and Pluto snapped and chased the kid around the park. Seriously! He chased him! I'm just coming across this now, but Benny Hill and all, it's too hilarious not to post! A million times yes!

Day 27: Favorite Walt Disney World Breakfast

Who doesn't love the Mickey Mouse waffles? They're simple, whimsical, and awesome! And is it just me or does Disney bacon look better than regular bacon for whatever reason?

This Week's Entertainment by David

Day 26: Favorite Souvenier

Vinlymantions, board games, Mickey designs, cool shirts and sweaters. It's all good at Walt Disney World. The Mickey Mouse Mug will take the cake, however!

Matthew Perry + Former Friends Writer + NBC = Hopeful Comedy Gold

NBC has picked up a new comedy pilot in which Matthew Perry is a sportscaster named Mike who goes to a support group. Could be cool-ish. Looking forward to it.

13465

What do those numbers mean, do you ask? Picture a 134 foot water slide that shoots you at 65 MPH. Sounds pretty crazy right? Awesome too. It is the Insano at Beach Park in Porto das Dunas, Brazil. It lasts only four seconds, but with a Guiness World Record. It'd be well worth it.

I Don't Like It

Everything's different and I don't like it. Ever since I started this blog, the format and everything has been the same. Now it's new. And I don't like it. Don't worry. This blog's not going anywhere.

Day 25: Favorite Activity Outside The Parks, But Still On Disney Property

I've always wanted to try golfing, but I have never been, so I'll choose Downtown Disney! DisneyQuest was awesome and the Marketplace is a great tradition. Cool complex!

Congrats Megatron!

Hopefully the Madden Curse just stops for this great guy. He's an awesome wideout and I'd hate to see his career stopped short. Is it really a congrats?

What If Television Universes Were Connected?

Like The Office with I Love Lucy and Happy Days. Wouldn't that be cool. This person connected them. You best check it out.

Bruins :(

This is depressing. Pats lose the Super Bowl and now the Bruins have lost Game Seven to the Capitals. I officially hate the Capitals now. The depression is setting in. A 2-1 overtime heartbreaker. It was such a great season with Lucic, Seguin, Krejci, Marchand, Boychuck. They all performed better than everyone thought. I'll be looking forward to the Bruins 2012-13 season, of course!

Day 24: Favorite Face Character

For some reason, I had trouble thinking of face characters. Peter Pan's pretty cool though.

Vote Pedro-IA!

See what I did? Yeah. I did that. Anywho, the 2012 MLB All-Star Ballot is out and Pedroia seeks a return trip. Vote for the Laser Chicken or Muddy Show!

My selections:

Adrian Gonzalez and Joey Votto
Dustin Pedroia and Chase Utley
Elvis Andrus and Troy Tulowitzki
Miguel Cabrera and Ryan Zimmerman
Matt Wieters and Buster Posey
David Ortiz
Nick Markakis, Cody Ross, Nelson Cruz, Matt Kemp, Andrew McCutchen, and Andre Ethier

Flash Mob

There's tons of flash mobs everywhere, but this one measures up. Thank you Alfonso Riberia. And yes it is Carlton's dance. Check it out:

Starbucks In Disney World? I Don't Know...

New Starbucks coffee shops will begin to open up around Disney Parks before you know it. Yet. I'm not sure if I like it. Starbucks isn't really Disney. What about a coffee shop called something like Gepetto's or Horace Horsecollar's? Starbucks doesn't exude Disney to me...

Day 23: Scariest Ride

None of them are really scary, but I suppose everyone thinks of The Haunted Mansion, no?

Jason Ritter Talks Parenthood

As we know, Ritter's got that new doctor show on NBC called County. Ritter said that he'll definitely make appearances in Season Four of Parenthood. Always good to hear.

DFTBA 2012 Recap

Before I left for Florida, I played the DFTBA 2012 Championship and Friends (TV) ousted the Gators. I just wanted to refresh you, in case you had forgotten it. Congrats once more! Awards will be announced TBA.

Sunday, April 22, 2012

Day 22: Favorite Parade

I liked the Share a Dream Come True Parade with Walt at the beginning and all the globes.

R.I.P Dick Clark

Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve just won't be the same without Dick Clark. He was an American icon and will be missed. Especially on December 31st. He was 83.

No Worries

I'll tell you how I recap the vacation on Friday.

Saturday, April 21, 2012

Day 21: Favorite Character To See In The Park

I don't know why, but I've always liked Tigger. He's just cool. I don't know why. Mickey and Goofy are also good.

ESPN Madden Cover Vote

I was rooting for Gronk or Tebow, but nobody likes the Curse right? So I prefer Calvin Johnson (Megatron), if you can, vote for Newton. Then again. Doesn't matter. Choose who you like, here.

100 Years of Fenway

ESPN Boston has some cool things, featuring the 100 Greatest Red Sox Players (Laser Show at #27) and the 100 Greatest Fenway Moments, among other things. Check it out!

Friday, April 20, 2012

Day 20: Favorite Dessert

I like the Dole Whip! I had it recently and it was awesome!! Pineapple soft serve ice cream. Seriously, what. Is. Not. To. Love?

Bob Marley Biopic

The documentary which will premiere on April 20th and also on Facebook (rental charge. How it is.) will chronicle Marley's life in Jamaica, superstardom, and death at age 36. I only really like one of his songs, but he seemed like he was likeable.

100 Years Ago, Fenway Park Opened

Titanic and Fenway! What a century. 100 years of Pedroia, Rice, Williams, Pesky, Yawkey, etc! What storied Red Sox history lies in Fenway. May they never tear it down along with the Green Monster!

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Day 19: Least Favorite Attraction

I don't know why I don't like this. Maybe cause you have to stand? I'm not sure, but I've never really particularly cared for it. The only thing it has going for it is that Tex Ritter, Jason Ritter's grandfather, plays one of the bears.

This Week's Entertainment by David

Flintstones On Hold

The stone age reboot from Seth MacFarlane (which could go either way in quality) will be on hold due to MacFarlane's full plate of Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show. Yeah, he could use a break.

Titanic Myths

Seeing as how 100 years ago, it had been five days since the Titanic sank, Neatorama provided five myths about the Titanic. Here they are:

White Star Line never said that the Titanic was unsinkable.

The band may not have played "Near My God To Thee" as it sank.

Captain Smith was not a hero and never issued an Abandon Ship warning.

J. Ismay did not leave everyone else to fend for themselves.

Third class passengers were not forced below the decks.

Friends Poll Concludes

Joey and Chandler tied for first in the poll with 5 votes each and 38% each.

Phoebe came in second with 4 votes and 30%.

Ross and Rachel tied for third with 3 votes and 23%.

Monica and Other finished tied for last with 2 votes and 15%.

The next poll will be Disney Parks related.

Day 18: What Attraction Do You Wish They'd Bring Back

I'm young enough, so I haven't really seen anything go, but I think Mr. Toad's Wild Ride looks cool. The Pooh ride is so fun, but couldn't Mr. Toad go somewhere else so we can have both?

Three Stooges Surprise!

I'll admit. I was a bit nervous when I heard they were making a Stooge movie. I liked the show and watch it occasionally, but this surprised me. It's getting good reviews! An A- from Entertainment Weekly! Is there promise? Maybe because the producers wrote it well? Their love for the trio? The sound effects? Maybe because the actors weren't big names? Sounds like a good formula to me.

Pepe the Prawn on Disney Cruises

"The Case of the Stolen Show" is an interactive all-around the ship Disney Fantasy game with host Pepe the King Prawn and with a very Muppety cast. That would be fun to do, it seems!

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Universal In Russia

Universal is planning to open a mega entertainment-sports-theme park complex in Russia called Galactica Park. That looks insane! It'll be open by 2015 and 37 acres.

Day 17: Favorite Restaurant

I like Pinocchio's Village Haus, Aloha Isle, and the Pecos Bill Cafe. But Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe takes the cake. Good times here and I don't know why, but I love the feel. It'd probably be the Mexican restaurant in Epcot or the Sci-Fi Diner or 50's Primetime Cafe in Hollywood Studios, but I've never been, so.

Boston Marathon Route

The Boston Marathon took place yesterday and one day, I'd like to attempt it. 26.2 miles of Boston routes. Boston's a great city and it could be cool-ish to see it whilst running. Here's a little video of the track in 2 1/2 minutes. Imagine if someone ran it this fast?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

They seemed to be one of those couples who would stay together, but not get married. They have children so many think they are already married. Well, they will be soon. CNN reported that the two are engaged. Happy day!

Monday, April 16, 2012

Day 16: Favorite Snack To Grab In The Park

What's not to love about the benignant? It's like fried dough, but multiplied by awesomeness, smothered in unicorn tears, and then dipped in happiness.
