2011 End Of Year Meme

This will be the final blog post of 2011. The final one. Over a 1,000 and this is it. I will schedule this for 11:59 PM on December 31st, 2011. This will begin 2012. Jim said to Michael in the boss' final episode, "so five o'clock and you are gone for good." So in this case, 12 o'clock and 2011 is gone for good. Huh. How about that. It went by fast. A year full of Muppets, Tim Thomas saves, and broken legs gone. It was certainly fun. What better way to end it, then last year did? With a survey:

1. What did you do in 2011 that you've never done before?

I broke my leg in soccer. Some Hawaiian kid.

2. Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions?

Looking at the list, mostly. I couldn't walk the dogs as much due to my leg. The football picks were good too. So far we've won once and if we go undefeated this week, we'll win a year-end prize.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

No. Not that I can remember.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No. I do not believe so.

5. What countries did you visit?

The United States of America

6. What would you like to have in 2012, that you lacked in 2011?

I am content.

7. What date from 2011 will remain etched in your memory?

November 23rd. The day I saw The Muppets. Amazing.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Student of the Month or Recreational Basketball Champion.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Breaking my leg.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I broke my leg, if that counts.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

I suppose the customized Jason Ritter New York Knicks t-shirt back in March.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?

Tim Tebow. What more can you ask for, from him? He's humble too!

13. Whose behavior made you depressed?

Probably Charlie Sheen. He was disappointing and definitely does not deserve any praise.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Nowhere. I saved and now have over $1000 in my bank account.

15. What did you get really, really excited about?

Bruins winning the Stanley Cup. The new Muppet movie. Andy becoming the boss on The Office. There were many things.

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?

Life's A Happy Song from The Muppets. Jason Segel. Amy Adams. Walter. Feist. Mickey Rooney. I've got everything that I need, right in front of me!

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

Happier or Sadder? Happier! Why? Because of everything that happened this year.
Thinner or Fatter? I don't even know.
Richer or Poorer? $1000 greenbacks so probably richer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

More soccer. My season was cut short. Leg problems.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Visits to the hospital.

20. How did you spend Christmas?

The usual. Had a Christmas Eve party with one side of the family, Fall River the next day with the other side. A Christmas Story. Patriots. You know how I be.

21. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?

Probably Alex. Discussing the NBA. That was only a half-hour, though. Rarely talked on the phone.

22. Did you fall in love in 2011?

With Adam Richman? Yes, actually. Figuratively.

23. How many one-night stands in the last year?

Zero.

24. What was your favorite TV program?

Tough call. Community and The Office were both good. Wilfred is different. Chuck is BA. Hawaii Five-O is cute. Gotta go with Community, though.

25. Do you hate anyone now, that you didn't this time last year?

Not really. Probably Jon Hamm.

26. What was the best book you read?

I mostly read Sports Illustrated or school-assigned books. The Bro Code, most likely.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?

DJ Steve Porter has pretty good sports and Community remixes. I should post them sometime.

28. What did you want and get?

A great year.

29. What did you want and not get?

Community's season 4 renewal. (Yet.)

30. What were your favorite films of the year?

THE MUPPETS. Tower Heist was good too.

31. What did you do on your birthday?

Games and cake, I think. Can't quite remember. I'm getting older, after all.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Red Sox making the playoffs anyone?

33. How would you describe your 2011 fashion concept?

Austin Collie.

34. What kept you sane?

Boston Bruins success.

35. What celebrity did you like the most?

Adam Richman. Tim Tebow. Dustin Pedroia. Matt Lauer. Ryan Seacrest. Jason Ritter. John Krasinski. Danny Pudi. The usual suspects.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?

Mitt Romney? I have no clue.

37. Who did you miss?

Jon Favreau. How's that Disney film coming along?

38. Who was the best new person you met?

My sister-in-law's cousin, Wazim is pretty awesome. My friend Alex's little brother, Matt is too.

39. Tell us a valuable lesson you learned in 2011.

Kermit the Frog believes in me.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

We know the good of stories, but please tell me-e-e-e
What there is to complain about?

When you're happy like a fool, let it take you over
When everything is out you gotta take it in

Oh, this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life

Christmas Song #31 (New Year's Style)

The final song of the countdown. It was fun, playing all of my favorite holiday songs. If there's any that you think I missed just comment so they'll be back next year! Happy New Year!

My 11 Favorite Sports Games of 2011

11. The last day of The Masters was good. Tiger Woods came roaring back. Rory McIlroy collapsed and Charl Schwartzel pulled it out in the end.

10. USA vs. Brazil woman's soccer was amazing. Abby Wambach's header saved the USA's life and then the States won in penalty kicks.

9. East first round game 7, Bruins vs. Canadiens shocked me. I thought the Bruins were down and out, but they won 4-3 in overtime.

8. World Series Game 6. It went to 10 innings and I think many people in the country believe this to be the best game of the year. Freese tripled to save the Cards and homered to win 11-10.

7. Super Bowl XLV was good like Super Bowls always are. Rodgers threw TDs, Woodson picked some people off, Clay Matthews had some sacks, Driver had a touchdown. The Pack was back.

6. The NCAA Men's Division 1 Final Four Championship game between UCONN and Butler thrilled the nation. Kemba stayed cool and the Huskies hustled to win it all.

5. I loved it when Tim Tebow defeated the New York Jets. My favorite player taking down my least favorite team. Pure gold. Ends it on a rushing, amazing, touchdown.

4. Eastern finals Game 7 was awesome. Bruins and Lightning go to Game 7 and Horton hears a WOO!!! He slides in and the Bruins shutout Tampa, 1-0.

3. Patriots playing the Dolphins on Christmas Eve was one of three sporting events I went to this year including Celtics-Heat playoffs and Red Sox-Tigers rain delay. Brady lead the comeback.

2. Tebow's first start against Miami. Down 15-0 with two minutes left. Two touchdowns, two-point conversion, Matt Prater game-winning kick. That's when Tebow Mania began.

1. Stanley Cup Finals Game 7. The game where the Bruins defeated the Canucks to win the Stanley Cup. 4-0! Bergeron, Marchand, Lucic, and Tim Thomas. Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-Bruins!

My 11 Favorite Movies of 2011

11. Super 8

If it wasn't so loud, it might be higher. The kids aren't terrible actors, just a hard plot line to follow. To many characters to keep track of.

10. 50 First Dates

Same thing as the one above. It's not 2011, but I never saw it before 2011. I thought it was gonna be one of those movies were Adam Sandler tries to go to different people, but it awesome!

9. Zookeeper

Bare with me here. I have not seen alot of movies in theaters this year. New or not. This is here because I've seen 9 movies in theaters (10, but I won't talk about Prom) so it is here by default.

8. Tim Tebow: Everything In Between

Now I'm really stretching. It'll get better as the list goes on. This was an ESPN documentary. Still good though with lots of Tebow!

7. Bad Teacher

It wasn't a bad movie. Just sub-par. Jason Segel was good, but I think they knew what they wanted to make, but just threw stuff together on a wing and a prayer and it fell.

6. Battle: LA

Many people are calling this the worst of the year. I wouldn't watch it again, but I didn't mind it. There was no plot whatsoever, but it had enough action to hold me over.

5. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

Good finale to an acceptable franchise. Pretty accurate, regarding the book. Had humor and drama. Good mix.

4. The Hangover Part 2

I have never seen the original Hangover, but I get the gist of it from this one. Ed Helms has fantastic reactions. Ken Jeong and Zach Galifnakis are also perfect. Just a great combo of WHAT?

3. Pirates of the Carribean 4: On Stranger Tides

Johnny Depp performed perfectly again as Jack Sparrow. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly were not back, but that doesn't mean it was awful, because it wasn't.

2. Tower Heist

What a fantastic robbery comedy. Stiller, Broderick, Affleck, Murphy, Pena. Nothing bad about this movie whatsoever.

1. The Muppets

You already knew number one, didn't you? Muppets, laughter, weirdos, catchy songs, cameos. They all combine for 2011's best movie.

March 5th, 2011

The day it was my father's birthday.

We celebrated his birthday and that was quite fun. My brother came over and we watched all three of the original Indiana Jones movies. Just a nice simple time, that can be looked back on fondly.

My 11 Favorite Shows of 2011

11. The Big Bang Theory

For some reason, this show had fallen by the wayside in my eyes. Something revived it to me. I think it may have been watching repeats on TBS or even seeing Sheldon in The Muppets.

10. Raising Hope

I HOPE you know that most of these will probably be comedies. Anyhow, the ever-developing, always-consistent comedy is a bright spot of Tuesday evenings.

9. Royal Pains

It's always fun to see this show back whether it be summer or winter. I may not talk about it a lot, but I love the cast.

8. The Event

Jason Ritter's drama was gone too soon. How can you cancel such a perfect show? At least give them notice for a proper finale. I'm still holding out hope for a movie.

7. Parks and Recreation

Ron Swanson. Donzo list. Forks are food rakes. Lil Sebastian. Parks and Recreation is a pretty fantastic show. Especially when Ron dances.

6. New Girl

Zooey Deschanel's new comedy has filled a Better With You-sized hole in my heart. It's witty with good characters. Schmidt.

5. Hawaii Five-O

This is probably my favorite drama on television unless you include the one below. Hawaii is a good place for a show. Book 'em Danno.

4. Chuck

I know it's the show's final season, but it's still pretty BA. I mean like more so than ever. I expect a fantastic finale from an amazing show with John Casey.

3. Wilfred

The show with the man dressed up in a dog suit. It's on FX, not many people have heard about it. It's still hilarious, though. Too bad I have to wait until June to see new episodes.

2. The Office

I know what you're thinking. Hubba-Wah?! The show I talked up so much this year about Michael's departure and Andy's promotion, the runner-up? How can this be? It's still a funny show, but....

1. Community

This show needs support, badly. Plus it was amazing. The episode with the timelines? Genius. If NBC does not renew this, they shall be shunned. Excluding The Office.

My 11 Favorite Commercials of 2011

11 commercials for 20ELEVEN. No? Deal with it.

Are You Ready For A Day Full of Bombardment?!

Like Adam Richman would say, ARE YOU READY FOR A CHALLENGE?! As you know this is the final day of 2011. This means I have to list my favorites, right? God knows why. Or should I say Tebow knows why? Just be prepared for about 11 lists for the rest of today which should lead into about 180 posts in December. That is not record-breaking. It is record-SHATTERING! The most posts I've ever had in a month is 114. December was HUGE! Also, I have reached 100,000 page views. Thanks to all who have viewed my blog!

2011

These are the reviews, in review:

That is 2011.

One Quote To Sum Up 2011

If you watch from 1:53 to 1:59, then the quote will be spoken by Kris Humphries. Joel McHale continues.

Christmas Song #30

Judy Garland sings this beautifully. This is the final CHRISTMAS song. That's kinda sad.

February 23rd, 2011

The day I pulled an all-nighter.

To begin I visited my friend Anthony's house for his party. After the party which included Manhunt, I went to my friend Alex's house with my friend, Harry. We played NBA 2K11, had a basketball war, and eventually stayed up all night. Good times.

All They Do Is Win

It's a compilation of people winning in 2011. Some pretty impressive ones in there.

Michael Rosenberg Is A Comedic Genius

The Sports Illustrated writer is already recapping the 2012 year in sports! Hubba-wah!? You may say. Well I say go to SI.com to view the whole list. Here are my eight favorites in no particular order. Also, there's a glitch with the blog. The post should show up in Google Reader, but for some reason not Blogger. Anyhow click on the link above and you should be good.

Dec. 21: Despite dire warnings from the Mayans, the world does not end. Las Vegas bookmakers collect $300 million from people who wagered that the world would, indeed, end. The bettors realize that if they had been right, they couldn't collect anyway.

Nov. 1: An epic World Series ends when the Philadelphia Phillies come back from a 7-0 deficit in the ninth inning of Game 7 to stun the Rangers. Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee share the MVP award. The Rangers announce that if they ever make it to the World Series again, they will immediately forfeit. "Less painful that way," Ryan says.

July 27: The London Olympics begin with a stunning Opening Ceremony in which Princess Kate Middleton and Reggie Jackson re-enact the climactic scene from The Naked Gun. Michael Phelps goes on to win three gold medals, which sounds disappointing, but how many gold medals have YOU won lately, pal? That's what we thought. Usain Bolt wins three races, including two that he finishes by cartwheeling across the finish line.

April 2: Leading North Carolina by 30 points in the national title game, Kentucky coach John Calipari calls two late timeouts -- one to hand a handkerchief to weeping UNC coach Roy Williams, and another so he can tell the media what a great person he is for handing Williams the handkerchief. Calipari then goes home and hangs a banner in his house, where nobody can take it down without a court order.

In the wake of Calipari's triumph, the media spend almost an entire day questioning whether any sports should ever be played again, and indeed, whether the earth should even continue to exist, right up until ...

Jan. 15: The Texas Rangers sign Japanese phenom Yu Darvish to an $88 million contract, which includes a clause that Chris Berman is not allowed to give him a nickname.

March 5: Playing in their third city in four days, and their fourth game in five nights, and their 11th road game in less than a month, the Sacramento Kings spend the entire first quarter shooting at the wrong basket. Nobody notices.

April 8: Tiger Woods roars back from a seven-stroke deficit in the final round to win the Masters. Afterward, he is asked to sum up his extraordinary journey from No. 1 athlete in the world to tabloid sensation to divorcé to injured, struggling, seemingly hopeless golfer and back to Masters champion. He looks straight ahead and says: "Felt good. Hit it solid. Putted well."

Dec. 3: Manning is named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year. He thanks the Jets, Ryan, Indianapolis, Irsay, Luck, his family and, with no explanation, Metta World Peace.

25 Years of Christmas

Take that ABC Family. That's about 70,000 more days then you have. Pretty cool.

Christmas Song #29

I have no idea what this means, but I would listen to it while picking my mom up from work and in the parking lot at Best Buy. Riu Chiu!

October 7th, 2011

The day I was elected to Student Council.

My bliss would be short-lived because the next day, I would break my leg. Anyhow, the grade voted and by the end of the day, I found out that I was one of 12 people on the Student Council. Awesome! The icing on the cake was that I walked with some of my friends back to my friend Alex's house, stopping at Dunkin' Donuts along the way.

The Year In Sports

ESPN creates a year in sports video annually. You can't always rely on them, though, so I created my own. I think it came out nicely. Sure Trevor Bayne and Coach K are hard to spot, but it makes for a good video anyhow. Fun to do! Enjoy:

The day I went to Maine.

It was about midnight and I could not fall asleep due to the excitement of leaving for our annual Maine trip the following day so I played MLB 2K7 as the Pittsburgh Pirates so naturally, that was enjoyable. Then we went to Maine the next day. Kittery, York, beach, nap, stores. Lots of fun!

Christmas Song #28

Fahoo fores! Dahoo dores! Welcome Christmas! Basically, I am welcoming Christmas for 2012 and years to come. Good song. Props to Seuss.

The Hall of Innaccurate Presidents

Pretty humorous. Obama is a beast in this. Pretty clever.

Tim and Rob Take Honolulu

The annual NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii's rosters have just been announced. Notables in my perspective include Tim Tebow, Rob Gronkowski, Wes Welker, Jason Babin, Drew Brees, and Calvin Johnson. Full rosters can be found at ESPN.com. I only list complete rosters for NBA and MLB because the NFL and NHL have way to many people to list. It'll be a fun game!

96 Santas

Over at Popped Culture, a collage of 96 different Santas was posted featuring the likes of NORAD, The Grinch, Kermit, Rudolph, and many more!

Akinator, The Genie

This man is a god. He's even more impressive than 20 questions. I've shot for Gabe (The Office), George Bailey and Alec Hardison (Leverage). It could not get Bradford Howe, though. You should try it.

April 4th, 2011

The day that UCONN won the National Championship.

I stayed up late into the night listening to the UCONN vs. Butler basketball game on my radio. I was texting my friend Joe and keeping him updating on the score and what was happening. I did various activities to keep myself occupied and it was nice, simple, and memorable.

Christmas Song #27

Probably the two most opposite people ever. One of the best duets ever. David Bowie. Bing Crosby.

What a year.

Good Life. Good Moment.

In the annual Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade, OneRepublic performed their song Good Life (commonly featured in Disney Parks commercials.) It was extremely good. A fitting end to 2011 it seems. Can't wait to see what Seacrest and Clark have in store for us. So much love.

Twas The Night Before Christmas (Boston Style)

WBZ brought Boston's biggest stars together for a reading of Twas The Night Before Christmas. Watch it here. Belichick smiled! How about that?

Jerome Simpson Can Fly!

Saw this at Gillette Stadium and was amazed!

December 24th/25th, 2011

Here are two Christmas presents I have for you. One, today is a bonus with two days. Two, it's been extended! You'll get to see even more of my favorite days!

The day it was Christmas.

On Christmas Eve I had enough time to watch Rugrats Chanukah, but then went to Foxboro for the Patriots game! They won and it was fun, yet cold. We came back for the Christmas Eve Party which is always good fun. Then, in the morning we opened gifts, had a big feast, and went to Fall River. Wonderful days!

Christmas Song #26

Mele Kalikimaka! It's about Christmas in Hawaii now so this is in honor of them. Hawaii's way to say Merry Christmas to you. Even though a Hawaiian kid slidetackled me. Book 'em Danno!

Christmas Song #25

The most Christmasy song of all! The Christmas Song! Nat King Cole! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

June 15th, 2011

The day the Bruins won the Stanley Cup.

It finally happened. I saw all four Boston teams win a championship. Tim Thomas saves. Brad Marchand. Milan Lucic. Patrice Bergeron. The BRUINS!!! Game Seven. I was so nervous, but the Canucks were shutout. Shame about the fans. Anyhow, BOSTON BRUINS! Johnny Rocket!
