Mrs. Parker

The parents in A Christmas Story are such good characters and Mrs. Parker, the mother of Ralphie who is never given a name, is my favorite of the two. The father is so funny, but she can be humorous too, but in a more endearing way. Plus, she is very cognizant of the children and what they're going through and how to be a good parent. She's a great parent and a great character, too! An embodiment of the Christmas spirit, if you will. The heart of the movie.

Jimmy and Rashida Do It Again

Come with me to Thanksgiving 2013. That night, Jimmy Fallon and Rashida Jones sang an amazing melody of 2013 song parodies to make them about Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Hanukkah on Late Night. I loved it so much and I listened to it over and over again. It was such a great representation of the happiness that always surrounds that time of year! In 2014, Rashida was booked as a quest on the Thanksgiving episode once again and I was immediately delighted. Sure enough, they continued the now-three-year tradition of singing song parodies on Thanksgiving. And this year's medley lived up to every expectation I've had for 365 days. So well done! I love it. Thank you.

Jimmy Fallon's Second Children's Book!

Many moons ago, Jimmy Fallon wrote a children's book called Snowball Fight! and now he is making his return to the foray of writing. For kids again! This time, his new picture book will be released on June 9, 2015. And it will be called Your Baby's First Word Will Be Dada. He himself said it will be "one of the few celebrity books you can tell is actually written by a celebrity." I'm sure that's in a good way! Nicely done, Jimmy!

100 Favorite Movies: 62

How great was this movie? Sure, it was only three minutes over an hour, but that doesn't mean it was any less amazing! Quick, smart humor with the lovable, classic, 2D animation made for a quality movie with the characters we all know and we all adore. Each is so wonderfully and splendidly beautiful in their own way. Add a little bit of Zooey Deschanel music and you've got a solid, underrated movie that can be watched no matter what the weather is outside! Plus, the trailer for this movie was also pretty top-notch.

Animated musical comedy directed by Stephen J. Anderson and Don Hall and written by Stephen J. Anderson, Clio Chiang, Don Dougherty, and Don Hall in 2011.

Starring: Jim Cummings, Travis Oates, Tom Kenny, Craig Ferguson, Bud Luckey, Jack Boulter, Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Wyatt Hall, and John Cleese.

Tune in tomorrow for number sixty-one!

Winter

I was going to title this post, "The Winter Warlock," but don't we remember him telling Kris to call him "Winter" time and again? Kris would try to call him The Winter Warlock, but nope! He insisted, after his heart was melted, of course, to be called Winter. He was once the evil ruler of the barrier to the north, but once Kris gave him a toy train, he softened and became a very nice man who learned to walk and eventually freed the good-doers from prison. 'Atta boy, Winter!

What's to Come in December 2014

As you know, December is always a big month on the blog. Which is why, for 2014, instead of standard three posts a day that we've all come to expect, December will feature four per day to accompany the greatness that always comes along with this month. What will that fourth post consist of? Why, daily, I will be profiling a character from the Christmas season! Yes, that's right. Each of the thirty-one days will feature a new character that we will discuss. All thirty-one of these characters can be seen on the right side of the blog. Why? Because, that's the new poll, too. Who is the best Christmas character? It'll be a fun month to find out! Butterball!
