The Art of Mega Casts

It used to be solos or mainly focused on one person like Casablanca (Bogart with supporting actors) or Big (Hanks with supporting actors). Now the ensembles are much more popular. Some are as low as three or six (The Hangover, Bridesmaids.) Ever since He's Just Not That Into You premiered the mega casts have been formed. In the movie, Ginnifer Goodwin, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connely, Kevin Connely, Bradley Cooper, Scarlett Johnannsen, and Justin Long starred. The following year, the movie Valentine's Day was created. That starred Joe Mantegna, Morgan Freeman, Kristen Schaal, Jewel, Taylor Swift, Bryce Robinson, Emma Roberts, Julia Roberts, Shirley McLaine, George Lopez, Taylor Lautner, Queen Latifah, Ashton Kutcher, Carter Jenkins, Topher Grace, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Gardner, Jamie Foxx, Hector Elizando, Patrick Dempsey, Eric Dane, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Beil, Kathy Bates, and Jessica Alba. Now there is a sequel called New Year's Eve. As you may have guessed, the cast is ginormous. Like my Valentine's Day post from years gone by, the format will remain the same.

  1. Wow - That is one hell of a cast! Hate to see what the budget for hiring them all would be!
