The End of an Era at Universal Studios

As you already know, the Despicable Me ride is replacing the Nickelodeon one and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will also be in California, but now, Universal Orlando Resort is closing down a section of one of their parks. You all remember Amity Park in Universal Studios with the Jaws ride, correct? Say goodbye. It will join Mickey's Toontown Fair as Florida's lost lands. I never went on the Jaws ride because I couldn't handle it. I would never be able to go back to a beach. It was a cool place though. Universal said it won't just be closed without any recognition. They claim to have a huge celebration planned for the place. It won't all be for naught, though. A new land will come in to replace Amity Park. Let's think now. What could be moving in? They haven't said, yet. Let's brainstorm. Universal blockbusters that have been released in the past five years: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, King Kong, Land of the Lost, Despicable Me. Projected Universal blockbusters to be released in the near future: Woody Woodpecker, Jurassic Park 4, The Lorax. Now let's examine these. The Lorax is a possibility, but it may be added to Seuss Landing rather than Universal Studios. Jurassic Park already has a land and even that is in jeopardy. The new Woody Woodpecker is intriguing, but I think they have all that they can do with that in their parks. Despicable Me's new ride is on the opposite side of Universal Studios so that is unlikely to have a whole section devoted to it. Land of the Lost was not really a good movie, but it still made a lot at the box office. It could be possible to make a whole land out of it. King Kong is kind of the same with Land of the Lost, jungle wise. They might try to capitalize on the monkey. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is also very real because it's not only a factory, it's a whole village. To me, King Kong might be too far in the back of Universal's minds. Land of the Lost was a bad movie so they may not try to do more with it. Barring a year-round Halloween Horror Night park, all signs point to Willy Wonka. It has multiple scenes that could be turned into rides, shop opportunities (candy shop or factory), Charlie's home, Great Glass Elevator and the chocolate river. This is the practical option in my opinion. Who knows what it may be, though! It could be anything and I'm sure they'll do a good job with it. My money's on Charlie though.

R.I.P. Jaws.

  1. Was a good ride, and I am glad I got to ride it. Will be missed, but hopefully what replaces it is good, as well.
