This Week's Sports by David

The Green Bay Packers are one of the most storied franchises in the history of sports. They are loaded with legendary athletes in their historic history such as Bart Starr, Charles Woodson, Donald Driver, Vince Lombardi, Brett Favre. In this case, the list goes on. Just like Sports by David's Sportsman of the Year. Last year, the selection was Roy Halladay. Halladay won the Cy Young Award among other accomplishments. The year was full of great athletes with spectacular accomplishments. Take Kemba Walker for example. Single-handedly lead UConn to a championship. Rory McIlroy won two golfing championships. Tim Tebow has certainly emphasized himself. David Freese led the Cardinals to the World Series. Dirk Nowitzki downed the Heat in the NBA Finals. Novak Djokovic won three of four tennis majors this year, taking down Federer and Nadal in the process of losing twice in all of 2012. Justin Verlander had an amazing season with the Detroit Tigers, he threw a no-hitter, won MVP and Cy Young, went to the playoffs. Hope Solo, Abby Wambach, and the rest of the American woman's soccer team took a major step in bringing soccer back. Tim Thomas was the most dominant goalie since Patrick Roy as he tore through the playoffs and won the Stanley Cup. All of these accomplishments are astonishing, but none are bigger than that of Aaron Rodgers. Congratulations to RODGERS! Our 2011 Sportsman of the Year! You've got another belt to "put on."
