Sports Discussion Sunday (250th Post!)

Today it's only fitting we discuss the Yankees. Yes I am a fan of the Red Sox but the Yankees did win the world series. Many people dislike Alex Rodriguez and the money they spent to get CC, Swisher, Burnett and Texiera. But it wasn't the money or those players that did it all. There are four players that are on this team that i would like to discuss. Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Pettite have been on the Yankees their entire careers (except for Pettite who went to Houston for two years and came back) with the Yankees. They all now have count em: 1,2,3,4,--5! 5 rings. You got one hand filled with gold! These four players are core and expierienced. Texiera and Sabathia and A-Rod are all fabulous players but they've never been to the world series and Jeter, Rivera, Posada and Pettite have been able to mentor these players to become the outstanding ace or MLB Lead RBI hitter. With the talent Jeter, Rivera, Posada and Pettite have worked into the newbies that is what gave the Yankees the balance of pitching, youth, offense, defense, coaching and expierience to win the world championship like they did. If they're able to stay like this and keep Hideki Matsui hitting away like he finished 2009 I have no doubt they'll be in contention for the 2010 World Series.
