You wait patiently by the phone
Hoping they will soon come home
But when you first heard the news
It was their choice, you couldn't refuse.
When they announced they were going to war
You cried and wailed, more and more
Knowing you're not crying because of the chance of death
They fight for the U.S without considering their health
Hoping they'll come home
The sound of ringing on the telephone
When you first heard this news,
you wanted to refuse.
The truth shouldn't be so sad
You want to change the past so bad
Now sadness spreads quickly to your loved ones
As you plan a funeral with some nuns.
Not everyone's loved ones have passed away
Happy Veteran's Day.

ReplyDeleteNice way of tying the two together. I'm sure thousands of parents and spouses hold their breath whenever the phone rings until their soldier comes home!
