Best Movie Characters: 34
Here we are with Melinda Dillon at number thirty-four as Mrs. Parker. Her first name is never given in A Christmas Story, we just know her as Mrs. Parker. She is a quality character who puts the best interests of everyone first. So much comedy gold from her.
Which Famous Duo Should You Be the Third Wheel With?
There are really very few bad results you could end up with after this quiz. If you get one of them, well then shame on you. B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling, James Franco and Seth Rogen, Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan. All quality. Some aren't, but most are. The ones I listed are quality. I got Tina Fey and Amy Poehler! I sure wouldn't mind third wheeling it with them. How about you?
Best Seinfeld Episode Tournament
As March is naturally the month of the brackets, I thought it apt to share this quality bracket, The Best Seinfeld Episode Tournament. Four quadrants, thirty-two episodes. Naturally, The Contest proved victorious and my choice, The Marine Biologist made it all the way to the finals! Pretty good grouping. Hashtag Sue Ellen Mischke

Best Movie Characters: 35
Snow White is the real deal. She changed the movie landscape. Without her, what would Disney have been? Without her, what would the world of princess mania be like? Maybe culture would be completely different. Plus, the woman who started it all, can talk to animals. Pretty cool talent.
The Surprising Sweetness of...
...Billy on the Street? That's what this Slate.com article is all about. It talks about how Billy on the Street is making a (rather big) name for itself as both hilarious and heartfelt...for some reason. But nevertheless, I love it! Good description, detailing, and insight of the show. The article can be found here. Very nice!
Oh Hell Yeah, IFC
At the IFC upfronts, the cable network made a pretty amazing announcement. They ordered a series from Seth Meyers, Bill Hader, and Fred Armisen! AWESOME!!!! They are certainly establishing themselves (IFC, the SNL veterans have already done so). It's a new comedy called American Documentary and I simply cannot wait. I know that I am going to watch because this sounds awesome and so so funny. Hoorah! Here's the synposis:
"A half-hour anthology series featuring documentaries and biopics about completely made-up historical figures."
"A half-hour anthology series featuring documentaries and biopics about completely made-up historical figures."

Best Movie Characters: 36
Crush. The voice of reason in Finding Nemo. The coolest turtle who ever lived. A character who always leaves me in awe at his sheer greatness. I will also forever believe he is simply mellow and not on weed. Turtles cannot smoke weed. Crush is just straight up cool.
Billy Joel and Jimmy Fallon
This is everything. This is beautiful music. These are beautiful voices. This is beautiful harmony. An iPad app, a late night talk show, a goofy, enthusiastic host, and a music legend. They all combined to create something unexpectedly glorious. It's everything I wanted from the Billy Joel episode of The Tonight Show. I will forever treasure this performance. Keep it playing forever.

Muppets Most Wanted
Of course, I saw Muppets Most Wanted, the follow up to 2011's The Muppets! I had to! I actually saw it twice. It certainly was a sequel, but I did enjoy it. Most of the music was good, specifically We're Doing a Sequel, I'm Number One, The Big House, Interrogation Song, Something So Right, and Together Again, of course, a throwback to Jim Henson from Muppets Take Manhattan. The cameos were better than I expected for a film filmed in Europe. You can never go wrong with Josh Groban. Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, and Ty Burrell were all great and it was certainly awesome to see more Animal, Fozzie, Gonzo, and Sam Eagle. There were good quality parts of humor, naturally. (Kyyermit. Robin and Rizzo's upset at being snubbed again.) It was a standard Muppet film, exactly what you'd expect from it, but it was still clever and enjoyable. Add it to the greats!
Another Kimye Parody from, You Guessed It
Of course, it's James Franco and Seth Rogen! No one else is better suited to make fun of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. The two already made their own shot-for-shot version of the Bound 2 music video which was just great. Now, they've added another classic. A parody of the couple's Vogue Magazine cover. So perfect.
Rifftrax on National Geographic
Rifftrax, the group stemming from Mystery Science Theater 3000, returned to make fun of three National Geographic specials and it certainly was funny. Tom Servo and Crow, well, the voices, returned on April 1, for what I assume was an April Fool's Day gift. Pretty neat. The more quality stuff these guys do, the better.

DJ and Steve
Candace Cameron and Scott Weigner, aka DJ Tanner and Steve from the classic, Full House, reunited and reprised their iconic roles on ABC's bizarre sitcom, The Neighbors. Everyone's reuniting from Full House these days. Except the Olsen twins, I don't know what they're doing. Very neat, though!
Ed Helms to Speak at Cornell
Cornell's most famous alum, in my eyes, is Andy Bernard from The Office. He was played by Ed Helms and in awesome news, Helms will be speaking at Convocation as a part of Cornell's Graduation Weekend on May 24, 2014. That's just so cool. Props to both Ed Helms and Cornell!
Awesome Audi Ad
This amazing new commercial for Audi with Ricky Gervais features a little girl reading tweets from trolls about Gervais. He absolutely crushes his haters and it's just...just a perfect commercial. Go Ricky!

Best Tonight Show Viral Videos from the First Week
We will forever honor The Tonight Show here at the blog of power, but I figured I probably shouldn't make fifty straight posts of different videos from the beginning of the Jimmy Fallon era. Therefore, I have gathered some of the best videos that have gone viral from the show in the first five episodes, although there have been forty-six so far. Please. Enjoy the greatness:
History of Rap 5 with Justin Timberlake
Brian Williams Raps Rapper's Delight
Harry Styles Makes a Surprise Visit
Ew! with Michelle Obama and Will Ferrell
U2 Performs Invisible on the Top of the Rock
U2's Acoustic Performance of Ordinary Love
Evolution of Hip Hop Dancing
The Ragtime Gals Perform R. Kelly's Ignition (Remix)
So great!
A Peanuts Teaser Trailer
One of the upcoming movies that I'm most excited about is, without a doubt, Peanuts. Paul Feig is so trustworthy. The Peanuts gang is returning to the big screen and I just so hope there's the heart and the humor. That's what you need to have. This cute, little teaser trailer helped some of my worries a little bit. It's a very good teaser. I'm still on the fence about the animation, but I'm optimistic about it. The voices also seem good so far and that's a big, big plus. Let's hope. Enjoy the teaser! Hashtag coming 2015.
The Big Bang
The Big Bang Theory Fact sure is the most important event in science for a long while. Recent scientific evidence has been found to prove that what was once The Big Bang Theory is actually scientific fact of what genuinely happened so very long ago. I'm not really sure about the specifics. The jargon goes right over my head. Here's one link that I believe is very good for information, but what you have to see is scientist Andrei Linde's reaction to finding out he was correct about The Big Bang. Pure joy and pride.

Irish Proverbs
In honor of St. Patrick's Day (which I know was a little while ago), Buzzfeed made a list of twenty-three Irish proverbs, but obviously there's a bit of a modern, Buzzfeed twist on it. They're for every situation, accompanied with gifs and photographs of moments related to these proverbs. They are, of course, so very wise. You have to love Irish proverbs.
Dog Happiness
Here's what you need to know. A dog is not allowed on the bed. A family set up a hidden camera to film the bed. The dog is home alone. Enjoy.

5000 Posts!
We did it? We did it!
Can you believe it? 5,000 posts. I certainly didn't think we'd ever make it here. Especially after July 2009 when I only posted seven times. On May 3, 2009, this blog was born and with it, a legion of power and all things that are awesome. Thanks to this convenient website, this blog has been around for
1,816 days or rather, 4 years, 11 months, and 20 days.
259 weeks.
43,584 hours.
2,615,040 minutes.
156,902,400 seconds.
In four days, it will be the blog's five year anniversary! How about that? It all started with the Hoedown Throwdown and look at it now. Now this blog is an empire to herald the greats.
When this blog began with post number one, 5,000 was obviously so far away, but this post is the 5000th one. What an accomplishment. I'm not even ashamed to say that.
5 years ago, or 5000 posts ago, rather, Michael Jackson was alive! Oh yes. Let's do more of this. Scrubs was still on the air! The reigning Super Bowl champion? Pittsburgh Steelers. Barack Obama? Why, that was the year he was inaugurated. For the first time. The Simpsons turned twenty. Spongebob turned ten. The last episode of Late Night with Conan O'Brien aired just three months before this blog began. How crazy is that? Two months before this blog began, Jimmy Fallon on late night wasn't even a thing yet, never mind any speculation of him becoming the host of The Tonight Show. American Idol was relevant! Kris Allen won seventeen days after the blog's birth. Paul Abdul had yet to leave that show. Bob Greenblatt was not the president of NBC. Marvel was still independent. There was no such thing as The Cleveland Show when this blog started and now it has been cancelled. There was no New Girl, and no Community. Avatar was the year's most profitable film and the sixth Harry Potter film was released. When this blog started, The Hangover hadn't yet been released, never mind The Hangover 2 or The Hangover 3. Toy Story 3 was just an upcoming thing. Jim and Pam were not yet married when the blog started. You Belong with Me by Taylor Swift was not famous. Tim Tebow was at Florida in 2009. The Orlando Magic were in the finals. I'm sure someone famous was born in May 2009, but we just don't know it yet. The Hurt Locker was the top film, 30 Rock and Mad Men were top shows, Viva la Vida, the top song, according to the award shows. 2009 certainly seems so very long ago.
Now, 5000 posts have elapsed and here we are. I've seen it all through this blog. We've gone through so much together. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, Jay Leno, and Jimmy Fallon! Muppet Mania in November of 2011. The incredible run of Tim Tebow. A Red Sox World Series title, a Bruins Stanley Cup title. We watched the finales of so many shows. The Office, 30 Rock, Chuck, and more. B.J. Novak's book rocked the world of this blog. I, myself, have participated in NaNoWriMo three times, but I do not dare call them books. I started in fifth grade and now? I am in tenth. So many covers, comics, videos, photos, stories, greatness. So so so much. And it's all here in 5,000 posts.
I try hard not to think of the end game of this blog, but posts and milestones like this always evoke it within my mind. However, it's just better to focus on the pure joy and ebullience of 5000 posts. What? That's insane. Most blogs never see the day. But that's what's different about the power blog. It's special. There is just something special about it. As 5000 posts have shown, the blog and I have developed over time. The identity has long since been realized. And my god. I wouldn't change a thing. Here's to many more! And oh my goodness.

Disney Attraction Bracket Results
Disneyland defeated Disney World in the March Magic bracket created by Disney to determine the best attraction at Disney Parks in America. The championship was Pirates (Pirates of the Caribbean) from Disneyland versus Hitchhikers (Haunted Mansion) from Disney World. Pirates won in the end, but all in all. Pretty pretty cool. Nice logos too.
Tom and Jerry Is Back
Tom and Jerry is making its return to Cartoon Network to further follow the antics of Tom and, well, Jerry. It will return to original form with 2D animation and each episode will be two, eleven minute shorts. Hopefully they do right by it and hopefully Tom and Jerry do not speak words. Please no.

The Incredibles Sequel
Pixar has announced that they will be moving forward on a sequel to The Incredibles! Hoorah shouts everyone! This is perhaps the Pixar film that most demanded a sequel. Toy Story will forever be the crown jewel, but The Incredibles had such a cliffhanger with the Underminer. I'm looking forward to the return of the super family. Should be good! Plus, more of this:
Welcome, Darrelle Revis!
It sure is good to have Revis Island in New England instead of waiting in New York twice a year or the occasional visit to Tampa Bay. The Patriots secondary definitely needed help and Revis is a huge step in the right direction towards bettering that. He certainly is a welcome face to the Patriots 2014-2015 campaign!
Jimmy Fallon and Barry Gibb
Oh, no no. This is not The Barry Gibb Talk Show. This is Barry Gibb's appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Jimmy provided him with a guitar and the two sang classic Everly Brothers together. Bye Bye Love, Wake Up Little Susie, and All I Have To Do Is Dream. Such amazing harmony. This is a "performance" to treasure.

Which Queen of Comedy Are You?
There are so many good potential comediennes you could be after taking this awesome Buzzfeed quiz. Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Kristen Wiig, Ellen DeGeneres, Lucille Ball, Lena Dunham, Julia Louis-Dreyfus. So many options! I got Amy Poehler! Who will you get?
Brian Scalabrine's 30 for 30
Ironic basketball legend, Brian Scalabrine has made a name for himself in the NBA world despite having a thin amount of skill compared to others to play professional basketball. Now, a fake ESPN 30 for 30 documentary trailer has been created called Brian. Very funny.

Happy Easter!
Ah yes, the springtime-lesser-Christmas is once again upon us. Hope the Easter Bunny has given you all eggs of candy in honor of Jesus' zombie-ness. Happy Easter in 2014!
I Did Not Know There Is a Television Hall of Fame
While searching SNL announcer, Don Pardo, on Wikipedia, I discovered he is in something called the Television Hall of Fame. Immediately I clicked it and was, no doubt, delighted. There have been inductees since 1984 and some of those enshrined include Lucille Ball, Ed Sullivan, Walt Disney, Mary Tyler Moore, Johnny Carson, Bob Hope, I Love Lucy itself, Desi Arnaz, William Frawley, Vivian Vance, Bill Cosby, Andy Griffith, Dick Clark, Bob Newhart, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Jim McKay, Dick Van Dyke, Betty White, Garry Marshall, Fred Rogers, Bob Barker, Regis Philbin, Bea Arthur, and two of 2014's inductees, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Jay Leno. I just think this is really neat. The full list of people in the Television Hall of Fame is here.
Julie and the Warlord Acted Out
In B.J. Novak's audio book version of One More Thing, he narrates the vast majority of the stories and he also narrates Julie and the Warlord. But in this story, Jenna Fischer reads the dialogue of Julie and Rainn Wilson reads the dialogue of the warlord. Now, This American Life has turned it into a radio production with the help of B.J. Except this time, Tunde Adebimpe plays the warlord and Alison Brie plays Julie! Actors love this story!

Magic Kingdom Still Has Potential
Jon Favreau's live action edition of The Jungle Book opens in October 2015. After that, he really hopes to begin production on the Magic Kingdom movie that needs to happen so very badly! But there's a light at the end of the tunnel. We can see it now. There is hope. There. Is. Hope. Here is what Favreau said about it:
"I really want to do Magic Kingdom. Part of what’s complicated about it is you’re mixing all of the different lands and characters together but between The Avengers and The Lego Movie, there seems to be a way to do it that doesn’t confuse the audience. Hopefully I’ll get to make that movie with Disney soon. Right now Jungle Book is the thing and hopefully through that partnership it’ll lead to getting the other film done because I think Magic Kingdom is a great idea for a film. The issue is how do you treat characters in one film that are differentiated [in other films]. So if you’re doing a Pirates of the Caribbean movie, how do you differentiate from the pirates in your movie, is that confusing to an audience and does that ruin other franchises that are existing? So I think when the time is right I think I have a strong take that would make that very clear. But again Jungle Book is a priority for them and something they’re very excited about and something I really connected with. Hopefully, through that relationship, Magic Kingdom will become the next thing down the line."

Another Mindy Kaling Book!
Mindy Kaling has announced that she will be writing another book which will join the canon of her first collection of essays, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)! It will be about her very busy year which includes ending The Office, starting The Mindy Project, and everything else in between. I know I cannot wait. Plus, B.J. Novak is going to soon begin work on the second collection of fiction short stories in his two book deal with Knopf!
Plus! This tweet:

A Couple of Interviews with B.J. Novak
B.J. Novak has been making the rounds lately to promote both his book and his role in the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man which have nearly overlapped. He sat down with Charlie Rose on PBS, Ellen DeGeneres on ABC, and Natalie Morales on NBC. The interviews are all provided, but the one he did on The View, I just couldn't find anywhere. The Internet has no recollection of it. Weird.

Jason Sudeikis Could Be the New Fletch
Investigative reporter Fletch, first brought to life by Chevy Chase in 1985, is one of the crown jewels of former SNL cast member movie characters. Now, after a reboot has long been talked about, a new actor might have been tapped to play the revamped Fletch. And wouldn't you know it, it's a veteran of Saturday Night Live. Yes, oh yes, Jason Sudeikis is in talks to take on the legendary role of Fletch. That's all the details we have right now, but I'm sure more will come into play soon. I think he'd be good.
Tom Bergeron to Leave AFV
Tom Bergeron has announced that at the end of next season, the twenty-fifth season, he will leave America's Funniest Home Videos. Bob Saget says "okay." Just kidding, he probably didn't. Bergeron, however, said that "every now and then, regeneration is a good thing." No replacement has been announced, but he will continue to host Dancing with the Stars, anyway. Hashtag maybe Ty Burrell would be a good choice to replace him. Also: does this mean we will no longer get clips of people with Tom Bergeron's head super-imposed over their faces with varying emotions? Sad. Ah, well.
Ed Helms Will Star in Epic Fail
Not many details have been announced other than the plot synposis, but there is still some intrigue. Ed Helms pitched his idea to Lionsgate, an idea he developed with producer Nicky Weinstock. Now, after having it picked up, Mike Arnold and Chris Poole will write the script. All I can say is, Ed Helms please please please change the title. Thank you. Here's the synposis:
"Epic Fail centers on 'an elite but highly unorthodox special forces team [that] takes their dysfunction and excessive firepower on a desperate mission to save America, led by the only soldier more badass and more mustachioed than a Navy SEAL, The Walrus.'"

Best Movie Characters: 37
From Trading Places, an exceptional movie, is Billy Ray Valentine. Yes, two conescutive Eddie Murphy characters have been featured on the list, but you cannot go wrong with either. Billy Ray is all too eager to take over for Dan Aykroyd and I am thinking about how greatly funny this movie is, just writing about it. Such fun.
The Return of Cosmos
On March 9, Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey returned to the airwaves with Neil deGrasse Tyson at the helm this time, rather than Carl Sagan, for obvious reasons. Seth Macfarlane is surprisingly the executive producer of the show, but no matter, it truly is a breathtaking show. This thirteen-episode run will air on Fox until June 2 and the future of it is rather up in the air. I haven't had the chance to see every episode, but what I have seen has been pretty, pretty cool.
