Not only do you have to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, but you had to have played 10 seasons with the Red Sox and finish your career with them. As the book points out, Fisk was retired because he was hired as a "consultant" in 2000. According to this Ted Williams ended his career as the Rangers manager. There's a lot of loopholes and it's quite stupid. How about if you had an impact and we and the fans feel that you're deserving you go on the right field facade? That'd be a good policy. It was waived once for Johnny Pesky, who is not in the Baseball Hall of Fame, but that's it. It's not hard to fix, Boston.
