Book Answer: They Were
I don't know too much about this topic, but from what I can tell, Jim Rice did not care for the baseball writers of Boston. Maybe they had something to do with his induction in the Hall of Fame, since most of the Boston writers vote for Hall of Fame inductees. Maybe they didn't. All I know is that Jim Rice was one of the best, most dominant hitters of his era, and a pretty good left fielder. He was an eight-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger and 1978 MVP. He, along with Fred Lynn, was a part of the Gold Dust Twins. His #14 is now retired by the Red Sox. He definitely deserved a spot in the hall. And he got it, but in his last try. Just think. That would not have happened without the backing of Boston baseball writers. So maybe they didn't.
This one confuses me. Glad he is in the Hall, though.
