The two leaders of the Boston Red Sox, Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz, praised one another in interviews conducted by The Boston Globe.

Pedroia said of Ortiz, "We've played together for a long time, and gone through so much together, a lot of ups and downs. He knows we have each other's back."

Ortiz said of Pedroia, "It has been a good friendship. That guy, he's like my brother. We're family."
