Other Television Awards

In the midst of The Emmys of All-Time, it's important to remember what's happening with other awards out there in television. For example, the actual Emmy nominees were announced a month ago and there were many notable nominations. Lizzy Caplan, Bryan Cranston, Jon Hamm, Anna Gunn, Christina Hendricks, Aaron Paul, and Breaking Bad were all represented in the drama categories. Nice to see Amy Poehler nominated for leading actress in a comedy (although, Mindy Kaling was snubbed!). Ricky Gervais was a nice surprise. Kate McKinnon was delightful as she received two nods, including one for the Twin Bed sketch! Andre Braugher, Tony Hale, and Fred Armisen are all up for best supporting actor. Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon got guest acting nominations for Saturday Night Live. Silicon Valley is the way to go for Best Comedy. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon got seven nods! Saturday Night Live lead the way in variety, though. My favorite one, though, was Kristen Wiig being nominated for her role on The Spoils of Babylon. It'll be an interesting award ceremony. All the nominees are here.

The EWwy Awards are always very kind to those shows that were snubbed. You can vote here. I voted for Parks and Recreation (tough to choose it over 'Mindy' and 'Brooklyn,' though), Portlandia, Andy Samberg, Mindy Kaling, Nick Offerman, Aidy Bryant, Jonathan Banks, and Kerry Washington for SNL.

Lastly, Hulu's Viewers Choice Awards have a different take on categories. For example, Fred Armisen was nominated for Liar of the Year from Late Night. Plankton from SpongeBob was nominated for Best Villain to Be Stuck in Traffic With, Dean Pelton for Scorned Lover, Leslie Knope for Leading Pant Suit, Bob's Burgers' Louise's Rabbit Ears for Best Accessory, and Ron Swanson, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Stephen Colbert, Bob Belcher, and Ned Flanders for Best Supporting Facial Hair. Among other categories. Those are some more fun awards.

And don't forget about The Emmys of All-Time! Next round coming soon.

  1. Mindy Kaling or some other celebrity should keep a list on their website of all the awards they get from ALL the various places. Be quite interesting to see!
