Dan Harmon Fired

This is so very sad to me. Sony has fired Dan Harmon as the showrunner of Community. They said he could stay on as a consulting producer, but he has showed that he has no interest in staying on if it's not in his control. Two writers from Happy Endings will come on and be the showrunners. Happy Endings is a good show, so they have a chance to make it good, but without Dan Harmon it will never be the same. This has been Dan Harmon's show since day one and they just fired him. Think about that. This was Dan Harmon's creation and he loved it to death and then suddenly a company can just come in and take it from him? I know he didn't sign a contract, but according to Dan, they never contacted him. How could he do it if they never offered. It's clear that they didn't want him there, but everyone else does. I'll admit it, hell, even Dan Harmon's admitted it, he is a conceited bum. I love Dan Harmon, but it's true. He's admitted it, but that doesn't make Community any less Harmon. He's great, but he has issues, but that's what makes him a human being. A Greendale Human Being. Can't Sony realize that maybe Community will lose more viewers and its artistic integrity if Dan Harmon is gone? He's the one who made Community what it is. He is Abed. He's Pierce. He's Jeff. He's every character. That's the motivation. That was his inspiration. Every part of him is a part of the show and the parts of the show, we can all relate to. We all know a Britta, and a Shirley, and a Troy, and a Starburns. We all know those types of people and that is what he captured. Even the writers have been leaving. Not a single one remains from the first episode. They had the connection with Community and its fanbase, but the other writes won't have that. They won't have the connection. That's what makes it different, that's what makes it wrong. With the show Friends, it was awesome and hilarious during all ten of its seasons, but the spinoff, Joey, was so horrible. Fans of Friends want to think that Joey never happened. I don't want to see that happen with Community. I don't want fans to think that Season Four never existed. I don't want Community to ever get cancelled, but we have to come to grips with that the possibility has increased. The new writers and Sony's goal is to make Community more normal, Big Bang-esque, and get more viewers and ratings. Viewers and ratings would be nice, but don't change the show. I'd rather have four seasons and a movie and Dan Harmon than ratings, six seasons, and no Dan Harmon, because that would not be Community. Six seasons and a movie would be awesome, but not without Dan Harmon. Isn't it sad that Dan's vision of how Jeff meets his father will never come to fruition? None of this could have happened without Dan Harmon. There would be no Dreamatorium, star-shaped sideburns, no Greendale, no Abed, no Remedial Chaos Theory. There would be no Community. And it isn't Community without Dan Harmon.

  1. Well, it does suck. But, if the new episodes are bad, just consider this season's finale the end and the new episodes just "alternate reality" episodes. :)

  2. There you go! The show ended this year, and now you will see Dark Timeline episodes! LOL
