100 Favorite Movies: 20

One of the more recent movies on this list, but that does not take away from how much it deserves to be here. It's probably my favorite live-action Disney movie. I think. Well, I mean, Disney acquired Marvel and there's some of that coming later in the list, but I'd say this is the best conventional live-action Disney movie on the list. But enough about that! It's sooooo good! The soundtrack is obviously amazing and it would have been amazing enough as it was, but then it blended the splendiferous soundtrack from Mary Poppins, too. But even if everything about the film was awful (unlikely because...actors and goodness, but still), it would still rank this high because of the scene where Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) and Richard Sherman (Jason Schwartzman) sit at a piano when all hope seems lost and just share a really poignant moment...while Robert Sherman (B.J. Novak) sleeps on a nearby couch. Heart emoji.

Period drama directed by John Lee Hancock and written by Kelly Marcel and Sue Smith in 2013.

Starring: Emma Thompson, Tom Hanks, Paul Giamatti, Bradley Whitford, Jason Schwartzman, B.J. Novak, Melanie Paxson, Colin Farrell, Ruth Wilson, and Annie Rose Buckley.

Tune in tomorrow for number nineteen!
