Changes at Disney World

Some changes are coming to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It was recently announced that the icon, hub, whatever you want to call it, of MGM Hollywood Studios, the Giant Sorcerer Mickey Hat, will be removed in early 2015. Not many cared for it anyway because it was said to obstruct the view of the park and blur the goal of the park. No word yet on what will replace it, if anything.

Additionally, something else is closing that many fans were upset about. Over at EPCOT, the Norwegian ride, Maelstrom, has closed. The last day of the ride was October 5 and it ended to make room for a new Frozen ride that is coming to the area. Not only does it make practical sense for Frozen to be in Norway, but the Maelstrom ride wasn't as flawless as people were making it out to be. Some said that Disney is selling out, but I guess they were okay with Donald Duck, Panchito, and Jose joining the Mexico pavilion. I think it's a good move. The Frozen ride will come sometime in 2016, but for now, you can enjoy the Maelstrom one last time.

  1. Weird to think of the hat being gone. Interested to see what they do instead. As for the Maelstrom, no loss to me. Was not much fun.
