The ESPYs Are Back!

The 2008 Timberlake ESPYs will forever be the best. Samuel L. Jackson's 2009 ESPYs couldn't possibly live up to it. Seth Meyers in 2010 and 2011 did a very awesome job and gave two of the best. It hit an all-time low with Rob Riggle in 2012. Jon Hamm. Well, in 2013. He brought it back to prestige. The 2013 ESPYs were AMAZING! So awesome, in fact, that it earned Jon Hamm a spot off the list of people banned from the blog. I don't even know why he was there in the first place to be honest. Anyway, the show had a legendary beginning. Here it is:

My body was covered in goosebumps at the Boston Marathon segments. Holy emotional, Batman. Great combination of Carry On, the memoriam and Boston Pride. I obviously have a weak spot for sports montages, but that was one of the finer ones that I've ever seen. Then, Jon Hamm just goes on a tear in the monologue. The best parts:

The Montage of Dwight Howard's Greatest Moments as a Laker. A.K.A. Blank Screen.
"The BCS system has me worried because you can't always trust what a computer says...Manti T'eo."

The Robin Roberts, Dick and Rick Hoyt and Jack Hoffman moments were great. I loved the use of songs for the nominees, especially OneRepublic's I Lived for Best Moment. Brought back some Office promos.

It's not the ESPYs without skit humor. They had four, but three are worth sharing. Sorry, Jay-Z impersonator. First, Jack MacBrayer was absolutely, positively, flat-out, hilarious as a replacement ref. Great casting choice. Great writing.

Key and Peele made an appearance at the ESPYs with a pretty funny basketball youth camp skit.

Then, that guy from that thing (I have no idea what his name is, but I know his face) starred as Vladimir Putin in yet another humorous moment.

There were also awards to be given. Out of the major awards, I only agreed with four. Best Moment (Hoffman), Best Record-Breaking Performance (Michael Phelps), Best International Athlete (Usain Bolt), and Best Play (Jadeveon Clowney).

The Heat, LeBron, Pitino, Serena, Kaepernick, Adrian Peterson and Florida Gulf Coast rounded out the rest with Best Game, Team, Male Athlete, Championship Performance, Female Athlete, Breakthrough, Comeback and Upset respectively.

Great, quality show!
