From Mary Hatch to Mary Bailey, her character development and story is just as compelling as her husband's. She is George Bailey's rock and the one thing that finally pushes him over the edge to wanting to live again. The scene when they walk home after the dance punctuated by a later scene where they kiss out of passion in Mary's home is one of impeccable glory that is only triumphed by the look on her face when she re-enters the Bailey home and sees that George has returned. Thanks, Mary.
She is a great character, for sure. Without Mary, could George have been the George we know and love?
