Shrek is a masterpiece of both the animation and the fairy tale genre. For me, it was kind of the first non-Disney, non-Pixar animated film to really take off...like the dragon. Wink, joke. But with a solid comedic cast, an adult-oriented sense of humor, and one of the best soundtracks to every accompany any movie ever, Shrek is just a delightfully re-watchable romp. Plus, the story of Shrek is really an obscure one so it works for the mainstream, in a way. I always used to favor Shrek 2 for some reason, but as of late, I've come to appreciate the true, original brilliance that resides in Shrek. The original one.
