One of the all-time great romantic comedies. Definitely my personal favorite of the genre. And because it's so inventive. It really does turn the genre on its head through the original concept of man-woman "wooing," so to speak. But Sandler is at his best in this one and you know what? So is Barrymore. It's a great, great film all-around. And the ending of it is...an unpredictable one of sorts. It doesn't go for the perfect, happy, neatly-wrapped, bow-on-top ending, but rather a more realistic and hopeful one. And don't get me wrong, there's some great comedy to go along with it, which is something to be appreciated in the Adam Sandler days of late. There's also an amazing homage to Happy Gilmore, something that hooked me on this film in the first place. And the setting of Hawaii? How perfect is that?
Romantic comedy directed by Peter Segal and written by George Wing in 2004.
Starring: Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore, Rob Schneider, Sean Astin, Blake Clark, Lusia Strus, Dan Aykroyd, Amy Hill, Pomaika'i Brown, and Maya Rudolph.
Tune in tomorrow for number eight!
Fun movie, but surprised it is so high up the list!
