50 Favorite Albums: 3

To date, this is the midway point of Jason Mraz's journey as a musician and as an artist. We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things marked Mraz's enormously successful transition from a soft pop/hip hop blended artist to an alternative soul singer. No singer ever made a transition like that as well as Mraz did. Especially since this is still widely considered the greatest album he ever made. It reached number three on the Billboard 200 and its lead single, I'm Yours, was nominated for Best Song at the 2009 Grammy Awards and it reached number six on the Billboard Hot 100. Its time on the Billboard charts broke the record for longest stay with seventy consecutive weeks. (This record was later broken by Imagine Dragons.) Everything just came together perfectly here. In addition to I'm Yours, Mraz's signature song, he also boasted Lucky, his duet with Colbie Caillat, Make It Mine, Butterfly, Live High, If It Kills Me, and what is, in my opinion, his best-ever song, A Beautiful Mess, all from this one album! He's a legend; I could gush about him all day.

We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things: 2008 alternative soul and pop rock album from Jason Mraz.

  1. Classic, for sure. One of those that really doesn't have a bad track on it, at all.
