50 Favorite Albums: 8

Was there ever a movie soundtrack that launched a musical group and produced a plethora of Billboard chart-topping hits better than the soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever did? It was number one on the charts for twenty-four weeks, it was on the overall charts for two hundred and eighty weeks, it went platinum fifteen times, and it is currently in the Library of Congress. The Bee-Gees (lead by Barry and Robin Gibb) were catapulted to superstardom and Hall of Fame status with this one album as they revolutionized the music industry by defining the disco movement. Night Fever, Stayin' Alive, More Than a Woman, How Deep Is Your Love, You Should Be Dancing. The list goes on and on and on. Plus, KC and the Sunshine Band and Kool and the Gang were also featured on an album that will never die. Its legacy is far, far too looming.

Saturday Night Fever: The Original Movie Soundtrack: 1977 disco album from The Bee-Gees.

  1. One of those "defining a genre" things, for sure. Just screams 70s for many.
