6. Joel McHale
For a long time, I only knew Joel McHale as the host of The Soup. So when I saw the 2009 Entertainment Weekly Fall Television Preview issue, I was surprised to see him as the lead of a new show called Community. The rest is history. While I love Joel for his biting sarcasm and appreciation for all things Irish, there's something that elevates him to the top six. The fact that he fights so hard for Community. He was one of the most influential people in the revival of it a month ago tomorrow by Yahoo, but he also is the one who got Dan Harmon his job back. Forever indebted.
One of the funniest ever. Legendary figure from Saturday Night Live, under-appreciated and brilliant on Parks and Recreation, she is just the best. I can't wait for her upcoming book, Yes Please and I also can't wait for her upcoming movie with Tina Fey, The Nest. Amy should just forever stay amazing.
4. B.J. Novak
Obviously! B.J. has so much on his resume that makes him great. Besides being one of the smartest writers alive today, he's done great acting work. Obviously on The Office (for which, he also wrote), but also on Community and The Mindy Project and in films like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Saving Mr. Banks. Most of all though, I treasure his writing. One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories is a personal favorite from just the year and his upcoming books, The Book with No Pictures, the second, untitled one from his two-book deal with Knopf, and the one he always proposes to write with Mindy Kaling, are sure to be amazing, as well. Also? Hilarious Twitter feed!
Another three I am not surprised to see so high in your rankings.
