Cyclone Retiring

One of the best wooden roller coasters in the world, the Cyclone at Six Flags New England, will be retiring this month. On July 20, 2014, Six Flags will retire the coaster and it will no longer be available to ride. This is because they want to use the land for a different "thrill experience" and it has nothing to do with safety. It is definitely an old coaster, opening in Riverside Park on June 24, 1983, thirty-one years ago. It's too bad, really. I'll miss it for sure. I think nostalgia should triumph in this scenario because who even knows what it'll be replaced with? A store? Hopefully not. Hopefully they do right by it.

  1. Probably replace it with 2 or 3 rides for the space. Sad, but I never rode it. At least, I don't think so.
